I woke up early that morning,
Disbelieiveing the blanket of snow on the ground.
Something my young eyes had never seen
Visiting Granny never seemed so exciting.
Too bad I had to watch from the window.
I woke up early that morning,
But they woke up even earlier
To make my day just as special to me
As to the healthy ones that could run and play
In the midst of the snow outside.
I woke up early that morning
And watched them scoop the snow into buckets.
We spent the day inside making milkshakes,
Mom, Granny, and me, laughing as the snow melted,
Not knowing then what I know now.
